Filling Buckets in Year 3

We started the fourth term with our ‘Bucket Filling’ Wow morning. Year 3s took part in a variety of activities involving buckets. It was a gorgeous day to be down on the oval ready for relay races. We had bucket balancing on heads (the little beach buckets were MUCH easier to balance!). We checked our throwing accuracy at speed – seeing which team could get the most beanbags into a mini wheelie bin in two minutes. The long jump pits found a new use when we had a sandcastle building competition – shh! Don’t tell Mrs Florisson and Mr Clarke…

Back in the new undercover area, it was time to put the buckets to a different use. The challenge was to discover which team could build the highest tower using their buckets, followed by fun with water. We got to remove shoes and socks so we could dip our feet into buckets of water and see which team could retrieve the most ‘squashed marbles’ from the bottom of the tub using only toes! Lastly, we had a race to determine which team could get the most water into a bucket in a minute. Only problem was , we had to use a small plastic cup to move the water. Overall it was a fun morning which ended with a story called ‘Have you filled a bucket today?’ by Carol McCloud.
