KCS Swimmers Challenge Radio Host to a Race

A few weeks ago the Classic Drive Show host from 98five Sonshine FM Jeziel, was chatting about the swim made at the 2000 Olympics by Eric the Eel. He asked his listeners if they thought he could beat Eric the Eel's time of 1:52.72 in a 100m freestyle event.

Former KCS student, Nicholas, rang in and said that he didn’t think Jeziel could beat it and what’s more, his 7 year old sister Rebecca could probably beat him!

The challenge was on! Jeziel was invited out to Guildford Kalamunda District Swim Club to race Rebecca, Emily and Nicholas as well as to try to beat Eric the Eel's Olympic time.

On Thursday 17 September Jeziel headed down to Darling Range Swimming Pool after his shift, ready for a 100m Freestyle race against club swimmers. His challenge was:

  1. Beat Eric the Eel's time from the Sydney Olympics of 1:52.72
  2. Beat Nic’s 7 year old sister Rebecca
  3. Beat Nic - who boldly laid down the challenge to Jeziel on air!
  4. Beat WA's very own Paralympic Gold Medalist Josh Hofer OAM

Lanes were drawn, timers ready and they were off and racing!

Final Times:
