We are learning about Australian animals in Kick Start this term, so it was exciting to have a visit from WestOz Wildlife. They brought a furry koala, a curious kangaroo, a friendly python, a blue tongued lizard and his little mate, a Western Bearded Dragon, to meet and gently pat.
Even those not brave enough to touch were fascinated to see these creatures up so close.
The animal keepers taught the children that if they ever found a snake in their yard or in the bush, they should freeze, walk slowly backwards away from the snake, and then let an adult know. We hope they grow to love and respect our wonderful native animals.
