National Simultaneous Storytime - Wednesday 22 May

At Kalamunda Christian School we recognise the importance of reading books to children and the extraordinary value and enrichment that reading brings into the lives of our students.

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually in Australia. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, childcare centres, bookshops and schools around Australia.

This is a fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6. Kalamunda Christian School is excited to have the opportunity to be part of this national event.

Kindergarten to Year 6

Students are asked to bring in their favourite picture book as well as a pillow or cushion for them to sit on whilst reading. They may also bring in a cuddly toy for the day to share in the reading fun.

We are looking forward to a real sense of community as we have fun reading together.

Kind regards
