At Kalamunda Christian School we recognise the importance of reading books to children and the extraordinary value and enrichment that reading brings into the lives of our students.
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually in Australia. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, childcare centres, bookshops and schools around Australia.
This year National Simultaneous Storytime will be converted to a virtual event in order to minimise the number of children gathered together.
This is a fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6. Kalamunda Christian School is excited to have the opportunity to be part of this national event.

Kindergarten to Year 6 Classrooms
Students are asked to bring in their favourite picture book and a cuddly toy for the day to share in the reading fun.
There are a couple of video clips that will either be shared on SeeSaw (KS - Year 2) or on Microsoft Teams (Years 3 - 6) for students who are learning at home so that they can also join in with National Simultaneous Storytime.
Whether in person or virtually, we look forward to joining others around Australia reading “Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas”.
