What a great term it’s been so far. There is a great feel around the place with teachers and parents sharing positive stories of how the children are engaged in their learning and enjoying the many opportunities to connect and participate. The big ticket items at the moment are the Year 5 camp at Pinjarra this week and the House Swimming carnival next Friday. With 40 kids in the choir, a couple of dozen in the bands, so many in the production, 45 in basketball and others signed up for netball and soccer, the extra-curricular programs are off to a flying start. And the community spirit appears to be strengthening, evidenced by great turn out at the Community Afternoon at Kalamunda Water Park and the upcoming relaunch of The Fathering Project. By the way, don’t forget to also put your name forward for involvement in the Parents in Partnership (PIP) group.
Mathematics is an essential part of our curriculum from Kick Start numeracy through to Year 6 Algebra.
The school is taking advantage of two great opportunities to extend students in their mathematical knowledge, skill and problem solving.
It is so encouraging to be receiving some new enrolment enquiries and to have some new families join us since the start of term. We appreciate the word getting out via our parent community about how the school is going. The school is currently working on an update to our website, a significant part of our marketing plan.
Across the SCEA group there has been an outstanding increase of 10.5% in enrolments between February 2020 and February 2021. As our CEO, Dr Graeme Cross has shared, “ This is an outstanding result and testament to the diligence and resolve of our staff to deliver a form of Christian education that is increasingly being valued by the communities we serve.”
Work continues in enhancing the school’s facilities and environs. With the completion of the new Deputy Principal’s office and meeting room, we are now commencing work on the STEM centre in Room 6, with the removal of the carpet and laying of Lino. Once that is done over the next week or so, we will install PCs and 3-D printers along with new projector and white board.
Applications are currently being placed with the Kalamunda Council for building permits for a toilet block at the oval and an entry statement for the corner of Canning and Halleendale Roads.
After a recent arborist report on our hundreds of trees on property, two are needing to be removed over the Easter break, one in a fairly prominent place. Plans for replanting are underway.
This time your child will be learning the memory verse that relates to their HOUSE and the school value it encapsulates. Note: They only have to learn their House verse.
