Science Spectacular

Many of our students have developed a love of science as a result of the fantastic learning opportunities at Kalamunda Christian School.

Our Science Spectacular competition will be held again this year, commencing from 3 September.

Students from Years 1 - 6 are invited to present a science experiment to their class in week seven (between 3 –7 September). This year students are able to present individually or in pairs.

Two finalists from each year level will be selected to participate in our Science Spectacular event on the second last day of term.

Guidelines for Presenting Experiments

Students are encouraged to use the scientific method when presenting their experiment to the class and at the Science Spectacular. This includes:

  • Asking a question
  • Completing any background research
  • Constructing a hypothesis
  • Testing the hypothesis by doing an experiment
  • Drawing conclusions
  • Communicating the results

The experiment should take no longer than five minutes to present.

Clarity of speech and explanations will also be judged.

About the Science Spectacular Event

The selected students will set up their experiments in the gymnasium on Thursday 20 September and be prepared to demonstrate them during the day. Throughout the day all the classes will take turns in attending the Science Spectacular, where each student will present their experiment to the classes.The Challenge students will also be demonstrating experiments to the school.
