“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood”. Fred Rogers
We are passionate about play in kindy. Some of our latest play experiences have involved working in our make-believe kindy farm where we “milked cows” and sheared the shaving cream wool from balloon sheep. We’ve played with gravity by using droppers to drip paint on paper and watched the beautiful result. We’ve pretended to be superheroes and rescued toy people from ice blocks. And of course, we’ve always got something delicious cooking in the sandpit kitchen! As we play we learn new things and practise so many skills that contribute to our growth and development. Sometimes our playing is messy, sometimes its dramatic, sometimes it’s even silly, but it’s always a learning opportunity!
