At our recent excursion to the Kings Park Djilba Festival our students had the invaluable opportunity to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal Australian cultures. They participated in a number of exciting activities
First up was a Welcome to Country, followed by a lesson in hunting and creating traditional Aboriginal Australian hunting tools. We then learned about the roles of people in communities with respect to sourcing food and the different foods local Aboriginal Australian language groups would consume. Next we learned about the different meanings and applications of Aboriginal Australian art and got to use what we learned to paint our own Boomerangs! After our lunch break we finished our day by learning about and participating in some awesome cultural dancing.
What we have learned today has helped us in working towards a sustainable and respectful future for all.
