It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Mr Curtis Butcher to our Year 5 class.
As previously mentioned, Mrs Nancarrow will continue to teach in Year 5 until after NAPLAN (Week 3). To ensure a smooth transition, Mr Butcher will commence his employment from the start of next term. This will give him time to develop a rapport with the students and their families, as well as familiarising himself with the day to day running of the Year 5 classroom.
The students were delighted to meet Mr Butcher this morning and will get to know him a little better as he spends the day with them.
Mr Butcher graduated from UWA a few years ago and brings an array of skills and talents to the classroom as well as to the broader spectrum of the school. He has a passion for the arts and has been in leading roles in various productions whilst still at school. He loves a good game of chess and has previously hosted a chess club. He plays musical instruments, including the piano and trumpet, and he enjoys singing. He is a qualified swim instructor who has been coaching students for the past six years. He is actively involved in children’s ministry at his church and mentors a group of young adults.
He expressed his interest in the school’s rigorous and balanced academics, commitment to the arts and sense of community.
We look forward to welcoming Mr Butcher to Kalamunda Christian School and are excited about all that he will bring to our students and the broader school community.
