Kalamunda Christian School is excited about presenting our 2019 production Aladdin Trouble, a panto style musical involving Year 3-6 students. All of the essential pantomime ingredients are included: the kind-hearted hero, the go-getting princess, the evil villain and the wonderfully comic pantomime dame, with plenty of opportunities for you, the audience, to participate with a boo, a hiss or a hooray!

Selection Criteria

Once registered, all students will participate in weekly tryouts on Thursday afternoons from Weeks 3 – 4 of Term 1 (14 - 21 February).

Entry into the production is through an audition process. When casting, roles will be given based on student’s behaviour and participation during tryouts and auditions. The following criteria will be considered during the audition process:

  • Vocal skills – including projection, clarity, timing, pace, tone and dynamics
  • Realisation of a coherent theatrical performance – including the presentation of the chosen material
  • Physical skills – including control, energy, spatial awareness
  • Presenting/sustaining character – clarity in presentation, belief, conviction, energy, complexity

These auditions, whilst focusing in part on such attributes as vocal and physical skills, also put a large emphasis on teamwork and collaborative skills (which are essential tools for all students throughout their school life and beyond).

Those students who are successful in the auditions would be expected to commit for the remainder of the school year. Weekly rehearsals will be held in the school gymnasium on Thursdays (3:15pm – 4:30pm).

Further enquiries relating to the production should be directed to Mrs Kate Rimmer (kate.rimmer@kalamundacs.wa.edu.au).
